O Volker Kutscher, Γερμανός συγγραφέας και δημοσιογράφος, γεννήθηκε το 1962 στο Λίντλαρ της Κολονίας. Μετά τις σπουδές του στη Γερμανική Φιλολογία, τη Φιλοσοφία και την Ιστορία, εργάστηκε ως συντάκτης στον ημερήσιο Τύπο, ενώ σύντομα έγραψε και το πρώτο του αστυνομικό μυθιστόρημα. Σήμερα ζει στην Κολονία και ασχολείται αποκλειστικά με τη συγγραφή.
